lullabies, watermelon, and pussies

i tutored emily today in language arts and learned that a catchy titles "reels" the audience in!

are you reeled in yet? for reals?

perhaps if my title was in caps. LULLABY. SADNESS. HAPPINESS. PUSSIES.

or perhaps if the last word was the only one in caps. PUSSIES.

or perhaps if i said CUPCAKES. who doesn't like cupcakes?

on being sung a lullaby...

today is neil's birthday! i doubt he'll ever read this post, because he's only interested in writing and reading his livejournal (which he still has - that was so middle school)...so it's safe to say it here:

i forgot it was his birthday.

good things i have friends who don't! laura called me a bit before midnight, and we spent a while trying to figure out this snazzy new technology called a cellular phone and this snazzy new app called three way calling.

we didn't figure it out.

neil somehow did though, even though he wasn't sure how he did it either. long story short: neil insulted me, but its alright because he was still a 17 year old then. and then laura and neil sung me some lullabies.

they hurt my ears.

on being sad...and on being happy...

i was feeling a bit mature when i decided not to go to disneyland (*tear). my magic 8 ball told me repeatedly that it was 'not a good idea'. only very mature people use magic 8 balls! i was very very happy when i found watermelon at harvey mudd. hip hip hooray!

on hussies...and completing crossword puzzles...

(the condensed version)

becky: "i like the word hussy!"
roxy: "okay, well that right word changes the word hussies to..."
us: "pussies..."
later: "whoa, the word pussies fits into the crossword puzzle well. but no...it can't be pussies..."
much later (after we finished the crossword puzzle and were feeling very smart for doing so):

while checking our answers..."a dance/social movement in the late 70s and early 80s?" "hippies!"
turns out it was hip hop. maybe we're not smart at all.

random stuff i remember: (WATERMELON YUMMMYYY)

roxy: "oh lao tse...! but then hippies isn't right...and it has to be right..."
leena: "no, i'm pretty sure its lai tse. i remember this, its lai tse"

leena: does it usually rain this much? [reality: it was drizzling. if you can even call it that]
becky: this much?! oh yeah, this torrid rain pouring down...this monsoon...

:D,

roxy
